	Until fairly recently, single acting one and two stage air compressors were the only economically viable solution in this size range.		Vacuum refers to pressure that is less than atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure is 14.7 pounds per square inch because the weight of the air over square inch is 14.7 lbs at sea level.
