Plate and Frame

Another common type is a plate and frame. These are constructed as a series of thin plates with a liquid flowing on one side of the plate and the another liquid flowing on the other side. The liquids make multiple passes though several plates. The plates utilize gaskets to prevent leakage . Heat is passed from the hot liquid to the cold liquid
